BMW have just announced their entry into the electric car market with their 2 models the i3 and the i8. The i3- the smaller of the 2 cars is designed as a all electric city car and can travel 96 miles on a single charge, while the i8 will be a powerful hybrid sports car featuring an electric motor with a three-cylinder combustion engine.
Both cars will benefit from a lightweight construction made from aluminum structures and bodies made from carbon fiber and such will be able to powered by smaller batteries without sacrificing efficiency. There is no word on prices yet but the i3 should hit the streets in 2013 and the i8 in 2014.
